Woodlake Animal Hospital saves dog thrown by Oklahoma tornado
July 10, 2024 · COMMUNITY

After severe tornados struck Oklahoma this year, our team at Woodlake Animal Hospital stepped in to help our local community. We provided medical aid, gathered food and supplies, and housed several animals displaced during the storms.
One EF4 tornado struck a family in Lake Murray, Oklahoma, leaving them with nothing. Their home was destroyed, and their two-year-old dog, Bailey, was missing. Hours later, they found her hundreds of yards away in a water-filled ditch, unable to use her back legs.

Bailey was rushed to Woodlake Animal Hospital, where our team assessed her injuries, including a broken pelvis, multiple lacerations, and fractured toes. Dr. Zachary Lamar knew Bailey would need a plate on her pelvis to give her stability to walk again, as well as the funds needed for that specialized surgery and follow-up care.

That’s when the Angel Fund Okc stepped in to help. I founded it in 2023 and part of our mission is to help provide medical needs to displaced and injured animals impacted by natural disasters. Our goal is to support animals and their families during their darkest hours, and Bailey's story is just one example of how we're making a difference.

After weeks in the ICU at Woodlake Animal Hospital, Bailey defied the odds and reunited with her family, who were also rebuilding their lives.
The best thing about Woodlake and our community is the people. We support one another, and we help each other rebuild.

Since 2023, the Angel Fund of Okc has helped treat over 400 animals and raised $60,000 in donations in the last 18 months.
