Animal Care Hospitals of Williams Lake & Quesnel help Canadian bald eagle fly again

Animal Care Hospitals of Williams Lake & Quesnel help Canadian bald eagle fly again

In British Columbia, Canada, our team at Animal Care Hospitals of Williams Lake & Quesnel had the privilege of caring for a bald eagle who had been shot and left unable to fly. The eagle had sustained severe wing injuries and was suffering from lead poisoning. Our team took radiographs and arranged for the eagle’s transfer to O.W.L. Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society in Delta, BC, for specialized rehabilitation.

After months of rehabilitation, the eagle regained its strength and was returned to Quesnel —where it was released back into the wild. Shortly after, another eagle flew over and landed nearby—possibly its mate. This incredible creature now has a second chance at life in the wild thanks to the collaborative efforts of veterinary professionals, wildlife rescuers, and transport partners.

A huge thank you to Bandstra, Lyndsay & family, and O.W.L. for making this release possible!
