Hendricks Veterinary Hospital is keeping unhoused pets and people together—one pop-up clinic at a time

The Hendricks team is helping Boise's unhoused community access the veterinary care their pets deserve.
Since November 2023, Hendricks Veterinary Hospital in Boise, Idaho, has partnered with The Street Dog Coalition—a nonprofit organization providing free veterinary care to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Through these pop-up clinics, the team has provided care for around 350 animals. The pets receive vaccines, flea and tick prevention, microchips, and vouchers for spay/neuter services and dental care.

"As veterinary professionals, our calling is more than treating animals—it’s about strengthening the bond between people and their pets," said Dr. Robin Lemoine, who leads the efforts in collaboration with the Idaho Humane Society.
For Kaitlyn Prince, the Front Desk Lead at Hendricks, the impact is clear. "In the unhoused community, those pets are a constant source of companionship and give those experiencing homelessness a sense of purpose."
The Hendricks team—including Dr. Robin Lemoine, Dr. Josie Wray, and team members Kaitlyn Prince, Brittany Picker, Sidney Dalebout, and Michelle Fassio—ensures that everyone has the opportunity to love and be loved by their pets.

“Knowing that we can help preserve that bond even in difficult circumstances is what drives us,” said Dr. Lemoine. “The Street Dog Coalition clinics have had a significant impact on me as a veterinarian by strengthening both my clinical skills and my sense of professional purpose."
