Funniest Client Experience: I had an owner bring in her male dog for what she believed was a skin tumor. After examining him, I explained that it was actually just a nipple. She didn’t believe me at first, he was a male dog after all, why would he have a nipple? To reassure her, I pointed out that many male mammals-including her spouse, father and any other man in her life also have nipples. She paused for a moment, then broke out into a huge belly laugh, completely relieved and grateful to learn her dog was perfectly fine.

Advice for New Grads: Remember to breathe, and remember to trust yourself- trust both what you know and what you don’t. Be comfortable with not knowing; that is the spark that will light new growth. As humans and as doctors we learn something new every day. Lean into that. Allow yourself to expand by trusting the process. Don’t ever forget your community needs you. We are all in this together. All good things, in all good time.
