Fun Fact/Favorite Hobby: In my free time, I enjoy gardening (especially growing my own food), spending time outdoors — particularly in or near water like the beach, ocean, or river — and painting.

Vet School: Washington State University, class of 2014

Funniest Client Experience: I once saw a small dog brought in for an angry red mass that had supposedly appeared overnight on his paw, causing him to lick it and limp. While we were skeptical it had come up that quickly, the history was concerning for a potentially aggressive mass. After examining the dog, I was relieved—and amused—to discover it was just a cherry candy stuck between his toes. Easiest (and sweetest) mass removal ever!

Advice for new grads: Remember your why. Stay curious and hold tight to the love of medicine and the love of animals that brought you here in the first place. Don’t let one bad case or tough client interaction color your day, your week, or your career. Give yourself permission to not know everything — learning doesn’t stop after graduation. Find mentors, lean on your team, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Celebrate small wins, take care of yourself, and remember: you’re making a difference, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
